Vendor Management vs Partner Management

Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - 00:00

Up until late 1970s the phrases , “Offshore Outsourcing”, “Outsourcing” and  “Offshoring” did not exist in the English language.  Today, a business meeting does not go by without touching on one of these phrases…..

During this 50 minute presentation, we will explore the difference between these phrases, and the phenomenon their existence created called “Vendor Management”.

But, what happens when the Outsourcer becomes the Outsourcee? Does the “Vendor Management” principle still applies, or do we shift gears into something called “Partnership Management”?  What is the difference between these two? Join us and find out!

When to Consult vs. Engage with Procurement

Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - 00:00

Lack of sufficient time and resources is a top Procurement pain point. Procurement organizations are challenged to do more with either the same or less, as their budgets are declining across-the-board. This may also help to explain why procurement process efficiency ranks as a key priority for Procurement leaders. In order to do ‘more with the same’ or potentially ‘more with less’, Procurement needs to focus on the right activities to continue enabling cost savings which remains their raison d’etre. Deciding whether to consult on a sourcing process from the sidelines, or actively engage in that process, is a key decision point for Procurement to balance resourcing with value generation and risk mitigation. This presentation will provide insights into the factors that may increase the need for Procurement to engage on a sourcing initiative as well as give consideration to specific ‘red flags’ that may necessitate the need for Procurement engagement.

Automation Centers of Excellence: Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices

Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - 00:00

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is redefining the sourcing marketplace and driving transformational change for both enterprise clients and service providers.  Amidst this fundamental change, however, many underlying sourcing strategy considerations remain constant. For example, the basic question of, “What do we outsource and what do we keep in-house?” is critically relevant to effective deployment of RPA solutions.  Failure to properly delineate what functions are best-suited to third-party oversight and which ones require direct control leads to a wide range of risks, including scheduling issues, inefficiency and loss of business value.

This SIG Roundtable will examine how an RPA Center of Excellence can help buy-side enterprises develop an effective sourcing strategy around automation. Specific topics to be explored include:

  • Characteristics of an RPA CoE, including organizational structure and roles and responsibilities
  • Key sourcing questions related to RPA
  • Risks of ineffective RPA sourcing
  • Steps sourcing executives can take to develop and implement a CoE

This interactive discussion will be led by Craig Nelson, an Alsbridge Managing Director.
