When to Consult vs. Engage with Procurement

Tuesday, October 4, 2016 - 00:00

Lack of sufficient time and resources is a top Procurement pain point. Procurement organizations are challenged to do more with either the same or less, as their budgets are declining across-the-board. This may also help to explain why procurement process efficiency ranks as a key priority for Procurement leaders. In order to do ‘more with the same’ or potentially ‘more with less’, Procurement needs to focus on the right activities to continue enabling cost savings which remains their raison d’etre. Deciding whether to consult on a sourcing process from the sidelines, or actively engage in that process, is a key decision point for Procurement to balance resourcing with value generation and risk mitigation. This presentation will provide insights into the factors that may increase the need for Procurement to engage on a sourcing initiative as well as give consideration to specific ‘red flags’ that may necessitate the need for Procurement engagement.
