It seems to be common practice that software maintenance fees are paid upfront on an annual basis. Does anyone know why this practice is the accepted norm? I have read some accounts that payments are made on a quarterly basis, but the overwhelming evidence is annual payment up front. Has anyone had success in securing monthly payments, and if so, what was your approach?
