Risky Business: Understanding the Drone Effect on Your Supply Chain - Procurement Insights Blog
Several years ago, I addressed a small audience of about 100 senior procurement executives. I asked them two questions. The first was, "who believes that procurement should take ownership of managing supply chain risk - show me by raising your hand." Three or four hands went up. I then asked, "by way of hands, who believes that when there is a supply chain issue, the problem ends up on procurement's doorstep." Except for one or two, all hands went up. The conclusion? It's not our problem until it becomes our problem. Fast forward to present day... I wrote an article; To what degree should Rotax and their Canadian Parent Bombardier Recreational Products be held responsible for the "unauthorized" use of their engines in Iranian-made Russian military drones? Here is one of the first responses from a reader: "I am a bit confused. How is the Rotax engine being sold to an illegal party a procurement issue? Isn't this a sales issue?" In this 45-minute session, you will discover why it is very much a procurement/supply chain issue. During this highly interactive session, we will also connect the dots between ownership and responsibility regarding proactive risk identification and management.
