Our organization has pulled together a cross-functional team to take on the task of enhancing our Telecom Expense Management (TEM) program; we would classify our starting point as "Somewhat Existent" and "Somewhat Mature". Our goals from the onset would be to: 1) Optimize via inventory/audit efforts; 2) Account for emerging technologies to be deployed in our environment; 3) Address process redesign and system enhancement (provisioning to invoice audit/approval); 4) Revisit efforts to rationalize & consolidate; and finally, 5) Develop an ongoing policy and governance to ensure we stay optimized.
1. Given the above, are there primary elements that we may be overlooking that would be critical to establishing an efficient and effective TEM program?
2. For any of these items, have you taken these on and what has been your experience/success? What were hurdles to overcome?
3. What third parties (suppliers) did you consider to support your efforts? What areas were they aligned to support and how did they perform?
4. What are the expectations/demands placed upon your internal departments to drive success? Would you have a RACI to share?
5. Anything else we may be missing?
