Sourcing Operations: Best Practices for Requesting Sourcing Assistance

1. Who can submit a request for sourcing resources (for contract drafting and/or negotiating the purchasing of goods and services)?

2. Does a requestor directly request from sourcing or does the requestor first contact project managers or IT before the requestor can work with sourcing?

3. Can anyone within the organization initiate a request, or only certain staff members? If the latter, who are the certain staff members that can initiate get procurement staff involved (such as, supplier managers, leaders, titles or pay grades above a certain threshold)?

4. Also, assuming your company utilizes an online request form, how much information is asked in the form? Just enough to assign the request to a sourcing professional or as much as information as possible so that downstream impacted parties can be notified immediately (such as IT resources, information security, financial contacts, legal, etc.)?
