IT/Software Asset Management (SAM): Best Practices, Templates

We are in the process of initiating a project to review our Software Asset Management (SAM) needs and capabilities, to include a review of available software license compliance tools and a compliance management data base. The first step, already underway, will be to review potential consulting firms capable of effectively partnering with us to achieve an evaluation of our current state capabilities, current industry best practices/policies/procedures, a gap analysis, build a roadmap (for phase 2) and complete a tool(s) comparison. The second phase will be to prepare and send an RFP for a partner (could be the same partner as Phase 1 or a different vendor) to assist us in the execution of the roadmap, tool(s) selection and associated implementation(s).
I am sending this request to fellow SIG members with the hope that you may have history, experiences, potential vendor candidate information and, ideally, sample RFPs you have used and can share to assist us with this effort. Thank you in advance for your assistance and for sharing any insight, recommendations or documentation that may be helpful for our initiative.
As a reminder, SIG will scrub and remit for your approval, any anonymous donations you would like to make for sourcing templates such as RFIs, RFPs, Requirements, Scope of Work, Capabilities Questionnaires, Terms, Governance like SLAs & KPIs, communiques, etc. to help this and other members. We thank you in advance!
If you wish to donate any templates or tools to this inquirer or to the SIG Resource Center, please feel free to email Mary Zampino directly at mzampino@sig.org. All templates and tools can be scrubbed by SIG and approved by you before posting.
