Amelia Island, FL - 2019 Spring Summit Presentations

Today's work environment is an evolving landscape. The convergence of changing worker preferences, and a strong economy and tight job market make it harder for companies to find workers with the skills they need. This skills shortage gives many workers the upper hand-specifically independent professionals.  This shift in the way we work is replacing the traditional employer-employee relationship with a more diverse workforce ecosystem of independent talent and their clients.

Complex, global supply chains encompass a multitude of supplier/customer relationships. A recipe for a successful relationship is one where both the supplier and customer work towards the same goals and objectives as a partnership. Effective partnerships are based on accountability, agreed upon standards, and transparency. Blind trust is not a formula for success in partnerships because partners will question the unknowns. In procurement unknowns can be cost, profit margins, service levels, prepayments, staffing levels, etc.. The best way to ensure a successful partnership between customer and supplier is to put all the facts on the table with a well negotiated, transparent contract.

In 2018 Chevron and GEP embarked on a digital transformation of their procurement and supply chain processes. Chevron is leveraging this opportunity to standardize the core model design across the enterprise, define edge and non-edge areas, while also improving our data strategy and data quality. Join this session to learn from their journey.

Come listen and engage in a candid discussion on how to get to the next level.  Listen to strategies, approaches from three procurement professionals at varying stages of their career share how they are working towards their next career goal.

Sourcing is sometimes viewed as the group of people who want to come into a deal and squeeze a few dollars out. Sourcing’s vocabulary doesn’t always lend itself to relationship building – and Sourcing often has little or no mandate and requires strong relationships. Learn how you can use a Vendor Management paradigm to jump start your sourcing program or improve it, by quickly getting your arms around the right information, and speaking to your business partners in terms they want to hear.

Sourcing and Procurement teams that spend millions on switches, servers, computers, phones, and other equipment frequently lack sufficient insights into expected pricing, negotiable levers, and market conditions to make the best purchasing decisions. These teams often have limited time to maintain pricing databases or develop insights on suppliers that can be used to their advantage in negotiations. Learn how your sourcing teams can become True Cost Detectives and unravel the mystery of your suppliers' cost structure to avoid leaving significant amounts of money on the negotiation table.

Effective innovation can be challenging for established organizations. One of the most powerful ways to adjust to the rapid pace required for effective innovation is taking advantage of agile talent that brings a fresh perspective, relevant expertise, bandwidth and freedom from the institutional norms that can and do hamper in-house talent. But if you're part of an established organization that has yet to harness the power and practicality of remote, on-demand talent, where do you start? What internal and external challenges will you face? What tools do you need to succeed? And most importantly, how and where do you find the best remote, on-demand talent?

Today's environment demands flexible, lean, diverse and smart workers who can adapt easily and learn well under pressure. In this session, our thought leaders will discuss specific cases in which they have provided intense training programs for college graduates and diverse students, arming them with skills necessary for leading-edge and next-gen technologies. Through immersive learning and a cutting-edge curriculum adapted in real time by industry professionals, students receive in person training to prepare them with the skills and professional experience that will allow them to seamlessly integrate into current technology teams. Join us and learn how to build a more controlled talent pipeline by curating training programs that are aligned with your technical skill gaps and demands.

Keeping your customers first in a digital-first world is paramount. Achieving that goal is complex. In this session, we will share the latest insights and research on market shifts, the impact of digital, and achieving better outcomes.
